Ait Ben Haddou Day Trip
Ait Ben Haddou is one of the best-preserved Kasbah’s in Morocco and is a world-famous Unesco world heritage site. The 14th century fortified hilltop village was a major city stop in days gone by on the old caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara.
The Kasbah itself has been featured in numerous films and TV shows including Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator.
We will collect you from your Marrakech accommodation in the morning, and drive across the High Atlas Mountains over Tizi n’ Tichka Pass, a winding mountain road with remarkable scenery.
On arrival to AitBen Haddou, you will be able to take it the full grandeur of the Kasbah on the hill above and feel how imposing it seems from below. Crossing the riverbed if it’s dry you then ascend the winding streets and pathways of Kasbah up to the granary at the peak where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
A shopping stop at a local rug cooperative can be added to your trip if you wish to learn more about Berber rugs and how they are made.
Return to Marrakech along a different route with views along the way of salt flats and undisturbed mountainous area. Stop at the Telouet Kasbah for a short tour that will highlight the legacy of the Glaoui dynasty on Morocco.
On the return to Marrakech you will be delivered to your accommodation in time to enjoy an evening in the bustling city.
