Essaouira Day Trip

 

Wander the laidback medina of Essaouira, and leisurely shop for art and handicrafts in the selection of modern and traditional shops. The vibe here is far from the hectic pace of the Marrakshi souks, so you can slow down and take your time. It’s also a great place to buy Argan oil and try Amlou – a tasty argan oil and peanut blend, fantastic on the Moroccan breakfast pancake, Mseman.

Visit the port to see Moroccan fisherman bringing in their daily catch, select what you want and take it to a nearby grill for a fresh seafood lunch. Next to the working port is the old battlements and ramparts complete with canons, ready to protect the city in days gone by and one of many Moroccan sites to feature in Game of Thrones. Explore the streets and see how well the locals take care of stray cats.

 

Finally, sit on the beach and enjoy a magical sunset before returning to Marrakech.
